When you setup a project in Market Samurai, and enter your keywords or negative keywords, the software will then go out to Google's Keyword Tool and other information stores on the internet to grab all the relevant keywords surrounding the main keyword you entered. From there, you can filter the results by traffic, competition levels, and PPC amounts. For instance you could filter keywords that get more than 30,000 searches a month but have less than 20,000 competitors. Finding these holes can be monumental when dealing with organic traffic amounts.
You can also use Market Samurai to check out the competition, by default the software will show you the top 10 sites on Google and then break down their site relevant to the keyword in question. This module is instrumental in deciding on whether or not a new domain could compete in Google for particular keywords. Using this module you can also see each sites backlinks with their PageRank. You could use this information to reverse engineer your competitions SEM strategies and use the same sites to promote your site.
